John Litrenta has been an assistant coach for the Coyotes since March of 2016. His title of defensive quality control coach provides him with a number of hats to wear. He assists the defensive coordinator in safety meetings and on-field evaluations, inputs all defensive data into the team’s video editing system, plays a large role in recruiting junior college players and scouts high school players in and around Chicago, and plays an important role during on-campus recruiting visits.
Â
Litrenta, originally from Orland Park, Ill., arrived in Vermillion after spending the 2015 season as the defensive backs coach at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill. Litrenta helped lead the Chaparrals to an 8-2 record and a No. 9 national ranking. DuPage’s secondary produced 18 interceptions, eighth-most in the nation.
