Josh Rosenthal joined the Coyotes’ staff in early 2022 serving as Director of Player Personnel. In February 2025, his title was adjusted to General Manager. He also serves as the program's NFL liaison and works closely with all NFL personnel regarding Coyote student-athletes.
In his role at USD, Rosenthal manages day-to-day player personnel duties, all recruiting, and other duties in the football offices.
Rosenthal arrived in Vermillion following three seasons at Iowa State where he served as assistant director of player personnel since 2019. He played a pivotal role in identifying elite talent that led to the highest ranked recruiting classes in program history for the 2020 (46
th), 2021 (59
th) and 2022 (30
th) classes. The Cyclones qualified for bowl games in all three years of his tenure including a Fiesta Bowl appearance in 2020 when Iowa State downed Oregon to cap a 9-3 campaign.
Following graduation at Concordia University, St. Paul, Rosenthal stayed on as a graduate assistant coach for the Golden Bears before moving across town to become the wide receivers coach for St. Thomas in 2014. He spent four seasons with the Tommies before returning to Concordia as a wide receivers coach and director of football operations. He began at Iowa State in June of 2019.
Rosenthal hails from Bloomington, Minnesota, and attended Jefferson High School. He began his collegiate career as a wrestler at Minnesota State and concluded it as a football player at Concordia, St. Paul.
Rosenthal and his wife, Amy, have two daughters, Perry and Vale.
