Nate Van Asperen

Nate Van Asperen joined the Coyotes in the summer of 2022. He works primarily with USD's offensive unit.

Van Asperen arrives with a number of coaching experiences. He spent the 2021 campaign as the offensive line coach at Dakota State. Before that, he served two years at his alma mater, Southwest Minnesota State, working with the offensive line, running backs and tight ends.

Van Asperen was a two-year letterwinner for the Mustangs and played 22 straight games along the offensive line at guard and center. He was the recipient of the 'Ben Bundy' Lineman of the Year award following the 2018 campaign.

A native of Sacramento, California, Van Asperen began his collegiate career locally at Sacramento City College. He was an integral member of a team that won two consecutive bowl games, the East Bay Bowl and State Center Bowl. He was a team captain and all-conference recipient.

Van Asperen graduated from Southwest Minnesota State with a degree in political science. He has a master's degree in education with an emphasis in sports leadership.
