Jason Burton joined the Student-Athlete Success Center as an academic advisor in May of 2023. He serves as the academic advisor for the sports of men's track & field, men's and women's golf, women's tennis. He also works with the inside linebackers and defensive backs on the football team.

Burton transitions into his new role in academic advising after spending two years in the University of South Dakota's registrar's office where he certified athletic eligibility. He worked with the Coyotes' compliance department tracking current student-athletes' academic progress, evaluating potential student-athletes' academic compliance and reporting academic information to the NCAA's compliance assistant and academic performance program.

Originally of Shelley, Idaho, Burton is a 2019 graduate of Pacific University (Ore.) with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He was also a tight end on the Boxers' football team for four seasons. Burton went on to complete his master's degree in coaching and athletic administration at Concordia University Irvine (Calif.) in 2021.

Burton and his fiancé, Karlee, reside in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
