Christy Warnock has been a part of the Coyote softball program since the fall of 2014 when she arrived as a new student on campus from Millard North High School in Omaha, Nebraska. She starred in the outfield for four seasons from 2015-18, was a graduate assistant coach for the 2019 and 2020 campaigns, and was named an assistant coach ahead of the 2021 season.

Warnock was a three-year starter for the Coyotes who racked up 117 hits including nine home runs and crossed home 68 times for USD. She hit a career-high .302 with a .419 on-base percentage as a junior in 2017 and was named to the Summit League all-Tournament team in 2018. She was named to the Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence in all three seasons she was eligible.

Warnock’s first year on the coaching staff was one of the best in program history. USD won 33 games in 2019, third-most in program history and the most at the Division I level. Included in the tally were a record 11 straight wins at home, a victory over then-No. 23 Michigan in Tempe, Arizona, and a trip to the championship game of the Summit League Tournament. In her last year in 2022, the Coyotes started 12-3, equaling the best start in program history, en route to a 28-win season.

Warnock earned her bachelor’s degree in business and human resource management, and her master’s degree in sport management. She was named head coach at Wayne State (Neb.) in the summer of 2022.
