Mallory Schneid joined the Coyote softball program in the summer of 2018. She oversees the catchers while assisting with the offense.
With Schneid on staff during the 2019 campaign, South Dakota turned in the third-most wins in program history. The Coyotes were 33-28 during a season that included a record 11 straight wins at home, a victory over then-No. 23 Michigan in Tempe, Arizona, and a trip to the championship game of the Summit League Tournament. South Dakota's entire infield, including two pitchers and a catcher, earned all-conference honors. The Coyotes also boasted 11 shutouts, up from just three in 2018, and a team ERA of 3.82 that was nearly two runs better than the prior season.
Schneid's second season was cut short due to COVID-19. The Coyotes jumped out to an 11-8 start including a six-game winning streak at the end of the first month. The season ended during a tournament in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 12.
Schneid, who hails from Tempe, Arizona, previously worked as a graduate assistant at Indiana State, her alma mater, since 2017. She also was an assistant coach at Demarini Arizona Athletics in Phoenix.
