Josh Hutchinson

Coach Hutchinson was named an assistant coach at South Dakota on Sept. 4, 2013.

Hutchinson helped USD to its first NCAA Division I Tournament appearance in 2014 after the Coyotes won the Summit League Tournament. The Coyotes lost to eventual Final Four participant Stanford and finished the season with 19-14 overall and a 7-7 record in the Summit League.

Hutchinson came to USD from American University where he helped the Eagles to two Patriot League regular season titles and a 2012 WNIT berth. His duties included working with post players, recruiting, creating off-season development programs and serving as academic liaison.

Prior to American University, Hutchinson was the varsity boy's coach at Christian Academy of Indiana in Albany, Ind., from 2008-10. He was an assistant coach at national powerhouse Montrose Christian School in Rockville, Md., from 2004-08, where he coached current NBA players Kevin Durant and Greivis Vasquez. He was also an administrative assistant for the men's basketball program at Towson University in 2006-07.

Hutchinson graduated from Messiah College in 2004 where he was a four-year letter winner in basketball. He and his wife, Christina, have a son, Nicholas (2).
