Jevon Bowman

Jevon Bowman is in his eighth season as the head strength and conditioning coach at South Dakota in 2017-18. Within his first few seasons as the head strength coach he has been influential in developing players beyond the college realm. He has had two players drafted into the NFL, with Tom Compton going to the Washington Redskins in the sixth round and Tyler Starr being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round. On the basketball court, Charlie Westbrook landed a position overseas in Verona, Italy.

Prior to accepting his position as the strength coach, Bowman served as an assistant football coach in 2009-10. He also played for the Coyote football team from 2004-07 and was part of the 2005 North Central Conference championship team. Bowman helped start the strength program at USD in the spring of 2008 and was the interim head strength coach for the summer of 2009.

A native of Rapid City, S.D., his duties include football and women's basketball, but oversees all USD sports. He designs, organizes and implements various programs along with testing and evaluating the student-athletes and talking with professional scouts.

A member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, he earned his bachelor's degree in physical education, health and coaching from South Dakota in 2008 and his master's degree in exercise science and athletic administration from USD in 2010. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) along with being a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC).

He is married to Rheannon Bowman, a former soccer player at USD and USD's Wellness Center Fitness Coordinator.
