Mandy McCarthy joined the athletic training staff in the summer of 2021. McCarthy is the primary athletic trainer for the Coyote women's basketball team.

She spent her first season at USD working with the Coyote track & field and swimming & diving programs.

McCarthy hails from Newport, Nebraska, and is a 2015 graduate of Doane University. She comes to Vermillion after two seasons as the head athletic trainer at Dakota State. Other stops include a year at Garden City Community College and earning her master's degree at South Dakota State.
