Shauna Casey joins the women's tennis coaching staff as a graduate assistant ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Casey played four seasons of tennis at Sacramento State after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Jacksonville State.
Sacramento State
SENIOR (2022-23): Did not play during the spring championship season... Finished 0-2 in singles in the fall and 0-3 in doubles.
JUNIOR (2021-22): Appeared in one singles match and six doubles contests, finishing 1-2 in doubles play while her singles appearance at the No. 6 position at UC Davis went unfinished... Teamed with Paige Alter to defeat Ekaterina Repina and Yuliia Zhytelna of CSUN by a 6-4 score at the No. 3 position on Feb. 24.
SOPHOMORE (2020-21): Made her Sacramento State debut in 2021 after redshirting the shortened 2020 season...Appeared in 14 of the team's 15 2021 matches...Posted a 1-12 overall record and an 0-3 mark in Big Sky play...Her lone win of the season came at home against William Jessup, 6-3, 6-3, at the number three singles position...Played the majority of her singles matches at the number five position, where she finished 0-10...Was 3-11 in doubles play, her three doubles wins tied for second most on the team and her 14 total doubles matches second most...Played alongside Paige Alter in nine of her 14 doubles matches, going 3-6...The pair won at number two doubles at Santa Clara, 7-6 (8-6) and at number one doubles against William Jessup, 6-1.Â
R. SOPHOMORE (2019-20): Did not play (injury).
Jacksonville State
JACKSONVILLE STATE (2017-19): Did not play (redshirt) her freshman season (2017-18)...Appeared in just one match during her redshirt sophomore season (2018-19)...Played at the No. 4 position against an opponent from Alcorn with the match going unfinished, 6-2, 505, unf.
PRIOR TO JSU: Ranked among Ireland's top 10 junior players in the nation...Received a career-high ranking of No. 7 in 2017....:ed her squad to the U18 Leinster Interprovincial team tournament in 2016-2017...Claimed a National Championship in doubles 2014.
