Barrett Power joined the South Dakota volleyball coaching staff in January 2024 as an assistant coach.

Power, the Lincoln, Nebraska native, spent the 2024 season as a member of the Coyote volleyball team after spending her first four seasons at Colorado State. In her lone season in Vermillion, Power helped South Dakota capture its fifth Summit League Tournament Championship and fifth appearance at the NCAA Tournament in the past seven years. She appeared in 28 matches for the Yotes and tallied 15 assists, six aces and 25 digs.

In October, Power was one of 18 up-and-coming volleyball coaches that were selected for the AVCA Coaches 4 Coaches Scholarship. The scholarship allowed Power to attend the AVCA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky during the NCAA Volleyball National Semifinals and Championships that were played inside the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. The convention included networking with successful coaches from all levels and diverse group of educational opportunities.

While at Colorado State, Power gained valuable experience as a director of volleyball operations intern for three years and as an operations intern with the football program. She worked with the football program both in season and during the offseason by leading the organization and tracking of program expenses and assisting with team meal and travel organization. Power assisted with the organization and operation of the Colorado State volleyball summer camps in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

In addition to being voted a team captain as a senior at Colorado State, Power also received the Coach’s Choice Award as the team’s most valuable teammate in 2022, as voted on by the coaching staff. She was a three-time BOM Squad Most Valuable Player as the team’s most valuable player for commitment to preparation, execution of the game plan and the ability to make the team better. Off the court, she was among a select few of Colorado State business students nominated for the Sonny Lubick Leadership Seminar where she participated in five leadership sessions focused on leading through giving.

Power graduated from Colorado State with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a minor in sport management. Power graduated from South Dakota in December 2024 with a master’s in business administration. Her brother Logan was a member of the South Dakota men’s basketball program from 2014-19 and appeared in 71 games as a Coyote. Â
