Ben LeCompte was named the Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) for USD Athletics in March 2024.
LeCompte will be housed under the USD Foundation but will work primarily with Athletics in his new role at South Dakota.
LeCompte comes to USD from Kansas State University where he was promoted to Director of Development for Wildcat Athletics in 2023. At K-State he worked on multiple areas of development, including annual fundraising, endowments, legacy, and stock gifts. He assisted the K-State football program in closing a gift for their "Hydration Project" and managed a portfolio of over 150 donors, the majority being in the Ahearn Funds "National Leadership Circle" giving society.
In his first year at K-State (August 2022 to July 2023), serving as Associate Director of Development, he closed the year with over a million dollars raised which led to his promotion to Director.
Before arriving at K-State in 2022, LeCompte spent six years with WEX (formally known as Discovery Benefits) first as a Sales Director and then as a Regional Sales Director. During his time at WEX he regularly eclipsed a million dollars of sales revenue and lead the organization in HSA accounts sold in 2021.
On the gridiron at North Dakota State as punter (2011-15), LeCompte was a member of five Bison national championship teams. A two-time All-American and two-time FCS Punter/Special Teams Player of the Year performer, LeCompete enjoyed a short stint in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. Additionally, he won the 2015 Missouri Valley Football Conference's Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, while also being MVFC Honor Roll three times in his career (2013-15).
He graduated from North Dakota State with a double major in business administration and sports management. He's currently working towards his master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University, with an anticipated completion date in 2025.
LeCompte and his wife, Katie, have a daughter, Rylynn, and a son, Benji.
