Dhruv Mehrotra joined the South Dakota men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in July of 2026.
Mehrotra most recently served as a graduate assistant and video coordinator at BYU for the past two seasons under head coach Kevin Young. Mehrotra worked closely with the coaching staff and the director of analytics to support scouting and game preparation by collecting and analyzing practice data for performance insights including pick-and-roll, paint touches and box score stats for practices and games. His responsibilities also included running player development workouts, opponent scouting focused on team tendencies, player analytics, and end of game situations, as well as leading live game coding to support real time coaching staff decision making.
Mehrotra spent time as an assistant coach at Blue Ridge School (2023-24) where he oversaw team and individual defensive strategies. In 2024, he was the head coach of the AAU team Team Loaded 434 and was an assistant coach for the AAU team Philly Pride in 2022.
Mehrotra played at NCAA DIII Haverford (2019-23) and appeared in 52 games for the Fords. He earned his bachelor’s in physics from Haverford in 2023.
