Jacob Mutziger was promoted to Director of Events in June 2025, heading into the 2025-26 academic year. He joined the facilities team in a full-time capacity in the summer of 2023 and served as the Assistant Director for Events in 2024-25. That followed one year as a graduate assistant for event management during the 2022-23 academic year.

Mutziger hails from Chamberlain, South Dakota, where he was a multi-sport athlete. He earned a degree in kinesiology and sport management from USD in 2021 and went on to earn his master's degree in 2023.

Mutziger gained a number of experiences while earning his education. He has been an event manager within the South Dakota athletic department and turned that into a GA position in which he served as the head game manager for the Coyotes' women's soccer, men's basketball and softball events. He also served as the liaison between opposing teams and officials. Mutziger coordinated and managed up to 25 game day staff members during athletic events.

Mutziger was an assistant to the athletic director at Dakota State University in the summer of 2021 and turned that experience into a full-time position as athletic event coordinator for the 2021-22 academic year. He tracked more than 300 Trojan Athletic Club members and their membership levels. He also aided the Dakota State Foundation and organized and managed two high school basketball classics with 28 total teams.

Mutziger was on the Dean's List for all seven semesters while serving as an undergrad at USD. He was a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and also the Young Professionals of Exercise and Sport.
