Zach Zaharias joined the South Dakota external team in August 2026 and serves as the Assistant Director of Marketing. His primary sports are volleyball and men's basketball.
Zaharias comes to Vermillion after spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant for marketing and fan engagement at Eastern Illinois University.

The Crystal Lake, Illinois native took on a more advanced role at EIU following the departure of full-time staff members. During his time with the Panthers, Zaharias created game-day promotional scripts, managed and hired interns for the marketing athletics department, and ran the EIU student section's social media account to promote upcoming events.

Beyond his two years in Charleston, Zaharias graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in business. During this time, he spent time interning with professional organizations such as the Chicago Bears, Indiana Pacers, Cincinnati Reds and Indianapolis Indians.
