The University of South Dakota soccer team (10-6, 4-2) will play North Dakota State Friday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m., at theEllig Sports Complex and Minnesota State, Mankato, on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m, at The Pitch at Gage Towers.
USD REGISTERS FIVE OUT SIX WINS AS SHUT-OUTS: The USD soccer team has won six of their last eight games and of those six wins, five were shut-outs. USD has a season high eight shut-outs on the season.
USD DROPS, 4-0 AGAINST #3 RANKED NEBRASKA-OMAHA: The University of South Dakota soccer team fell, 4-0 to the #3 ranked University of Nebraska-Omaha at the USD Soccer Field on Saturday. In a defensive struggle, South Dakota played solid. Goalkeeper Candice Martinez (Aurora, Col.) had 16 saves on UNO's 25 shots. On offense, the Coyotes were unable to convert on several opportunities. Junior forward Teri Atkinson (Springfield, Ill.) led USD with five shots. Overall, the Mavericks held a 25-11 shot advantage and an eight to two cornerkick advantage.
USD RALLIES, 3-2 PAST #14 NORTHERN COLORADO: Laura Hallauer's goal at the 72:21 mark gave The University of South Dakota soccer team a 3-2 win over # 14 ranked Northern Colorado Sunday at the USD Soccer Field. USD improved to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in the North Central Conference. Hallauer (Aurora, Colo.) scored off a corner kick late in the game to give the Coyotes the NCC win. USD received earlier goals by senior Janel Johnson (Bellevue, Neb.) at the 5:34 mark off a direct kick and Ali Magel (Sioux City, Iowa) scored with a header, assisted by Beth Schuster (Omaha, Neb.), at the 68:58 mark. The Coyotes held a 19-14 shot advantage and seven to five corner kick advantage. Defensively, goalkeeper Candice Martinez (Aurora, Col.) registered six saves for USD. UNC was led by Christine Devaney's goal at the 2:58 mark and Raegan McHugh's goal at the 8:24 mark.
NCC CHAMPIONSHIP SITE SET:
The site of the North Central Conference Championship is now set. Nebraska-Omaha has clinched the regular-season title and will host the four team NCC tournament on Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9. North Dakota has an assured spot, while The University of South Dakota, Northern Colorado, Minnesota State, Mankato, and North Dakota State are in the running to claim berths in the tournament. This weekend's match-ups will play an enormous factor in the tournament teams.
NSCAA:The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released Monday, Oct. 21, that The University of South Dakota women's soccer
team is ranked 8th in the regional rankings for the Central Region. Other NCC ranked teams included in the weekly rating were #1 Nebraska-Omaha, #3 Northern Colorado, #7 University of North Dakota, and #8 St. Cloud State.
