VERMILLION, S.D. - Former South Dakota Coyotes punter/kicker Filip Filipovic will be featured in the HBO special, "Hard Knocks," that began last night (July 31).
According to an article by Fred Quindt of the Sporting News on July 31 (posted on the Yahoo web site), Filipovic will be one of several Cowboys featured. Head Coach Dave Campo, Bob Slowikowski and veteran, all-pro running back Emmitt Smith are others that will star in the summer miniseries.
The special will chronicle the trials and heartaches of a NFL training camp. This special focuses on the Dallas Cowboys' rookies and veterans. It is the first sports-based reality series that begins its second season. The show will air at 10 p.m. central exclusively on HBO. There will be encore viewings of the show on Thursday at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. central. "Hard Knocks" will be broadcast every Wednesday throughout training camp.
HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg has metallic-blue stars in his eyes about the special. "Last year, we caught lightning in a bottle; the final episode had a 4.9 rating," he told Quindt. "The story-lines may be better this time. You've still got Jerry and Emmitt Smith, plus the Oklahoma rookie star (Roy Williams) and a bunch of guys desperate to make the team. Pure soap opera."
