North Dakota Defeats Augustana, 82-63, in the NCC Semifinals

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of North Dakota, led by 37 points and 10 rebounds from Kierah Kimbrough, defeated Augustana, 82-63, in the semifinals of the North Central Conference Women's Basketball Tournament at the DakotaDome on Saturday.

Kimbrough hit 12-of-20 field goals and also was 13-of-14 from the free throw line to lead UND, which was seeded second and improved to 27-2 overall. Senior guard Karla Beck added 15 points.

North Dakota, which is ranked fifth in NCAA Division II, advanced to the NCC Championship game which will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the DakotaDome. It will be their eighth straight appearance in the title game of the tournament.

Augustana, seeded third in the tournament, dropped to 22-9 overall. They were led in scoring by Amy Puthoff with 20 points and Dani Arens with 11.

North Dakota dropped to 24-28 halftime lead and outscored the Vikings, 48-35, in the second half. UND shot 43.3 percent from the field and made 11-of-19 three-point baskets for 57.9 percent. They were 19-of-22 from the free throw line.

Augustana hit 35.2 percent from the field, including 7-of-21 from the three-point line (33.3 percent). They were 18-of-27 (66.7 percent) from the free throw line.
