"We had a very unusual situation for the game," said USD head coach Marcia Oliveira. "Several players couldn't stay much in the game and some were asking to be substituted for because of breathing problems. It placed us in an awkward spot and they scored some goals while we played with 10 players only. Sometimes it happens in soccer and we have to adapt quickly. We fought hard and tried to overcome it but it did not go our way. We will try to rebound at home against North Dakota on Friday."
USD (2-6-1) returns home on Friday, Oct. 2 to face North Dakota in the Great West Conference opener for both teams. Game time is 4 p.m. at the USD Soccer Field.
