PREVIEW: Coyotes Head to Brookings for Interstate Series Showdown

10.21.2026

VERMILLION, S.D.— South Dakota women's soccer travels to Brookings for its final road match of the regular season, facing in-state rival South Dakota State in the latest edition of the Interstate Series presented by First Interstate Bank.

The Coyotes (6-4-5, 3-1-3 Summit League) enter the matchup on a two-game winning streak after earning road victories over Omaha and St. Thomas last week. South Dakota sits first in Pod A and second overall in the Summit League standings, while the Jackrabbits (8-4-3, 3-2-2 Summit League) sit 2nd in Pod A and 3rd overall.

South Dakota and South Dakota State last met on Sept. 24, playing to a 0-0 draw.

THE COYOTES

Elsie Odney leads a Coyote defense that has recorded back-to-back shutouts. The defender earned her first Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honor after helping South Dakota secure wins over Omaha and St. Thomas. Odney also received honorable mention recognition on TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week.

Offensively, Klarissa Vega leads the Coyotes with four goals and three assists. She has recorded 40 shots, including 17 on target, while starting all 14 matches in which she has appeared. Junior midfielder Sadie Strait has added three goals this season, providing an offensive spark with goals in two separate matches after entering as a substitute. Freshman Brooklynn Pollmiller has contributed three goals and two assists while appearing in all 15 matches.

In goal, Campbell Fischer has anchored the Coyote defense with six shutouts and 60 saves. Her six shutouts tie her for the second-most in a single season in program history, putting her two shy of the school record with three regular-season matches remaining.

THE JACKRABBITS

Jenna Maloy leads the attack with six goals and 12 points, while Mia Bosch has contributed a team-high eight assists and 14 points. Katelyn Beulke has added four goals and three assists, and Hannah Langstaff has seven assists.

Defensively, the Jackrabbits have allowed just 12 goals and recorded eight shutouts. Goalkeeper Mallorie Benhart has made 43 saves on the season so far.
