Vermillion, S.D. -- The South Dakota women's soccer team has earned the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association/Adidas Women's Team Academic Award, the NSCAA has announced. It is the second straight year the Coyotes have earned the honor.
Coach Mandy Green's squad had a GPA of 3.47 in the academic year of 2009-10 to earn the honor.
To be considered, a team must have a composite GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA roster. All players on the roster must be included in the calculation of the team's GPA.
USD is one of 444 teams competing this fall at the NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA that has earned the National Award. In the United States there are more than 1,000 universities competing in women's soccer.
