Vermillion, S.D. - Former Coyote football player Andy Bischoff helped coach the Montreal Alouettes to their second consecutive Canadian Football League Grey Cup victory on Nov. 28.
Bischoff, a center for South Dakota from 1989-93, was a three-year letterwinnner while helping block for quarterback Jason Seurer who is fourth all-time in passing yards for the Coyotes. Bischoff graduated with a bachelor's degree from USD in 1994 and went on to coach at Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, Minn., for 14 years and is now in his third season with the Alouettes. He works with the running backs, tight ends and assists with the offensive line. Off the field, he is an assistant to head coach Marc Trestman.
Montreal finished 12-6 in 2009 and went 15-3 in 2010 to capture a 21-18 win over Saskatchewan in the Grey Cup. Under Bischoff's guidance, running back Avon Cobourne had his first 1,000-yard season in 2009 and led the CFL with 13 rushing touchdowns. Cobourne finished with 956 yards and six touchdowns in 2010.
