VERMILLION, S.D. -- For the second straight year,
former University of South Dakota standout Bridget Yoerger is heading overseas to play professional basketball.
Yoerger, who played for USD from 2005-09, will play for the Wereldtickets pro team in Holland.
She leaves Friday, Aug. 13, with the team's first official meeting set to be held on Sept. 1.
It's the same team that Yoerger played for in 2009-10, when she earned first-team all-league honors along with being selected to the all-star team.
"I like the level of competition," Yoerger said. "I made so many friends. I felt like I fit in. That's a big deal when you are overseas...I felt really welcome there."
Yoerger is the second-leading scorer in USD history with 1,604 points, and also ranks fourth in rebounds (884), third in blocks (101) and sixth in steals (176).
The Wereldtickets finished fourth in the 10-team league last season and qualified for the playoffs. The team's first game is in mid-October, with the season being capped off by the playoffs in March 2011.
