Vermillion, S.D. -- A nine-game Summit League slate highlights the 2011 schedule for the South Dakota women's soccer team. The Coyotes, entering their second season under the direction of Coach Mandy Green, will play eight home games as part of the 19-game 2011 campaign.

South Dakota will play an exhibition game at home against Drake on Aug. 11 before opening the regular season on Aug. 19 at North Dakota. The Coyotes' regular-season home opener is set for Aug. 28 against Nebraska-Omaha, which is beginning its transition to NCAA Division I status in 2011.

South Dakota follows with a home game against Wisconsin-Green Bay on Aug. 31 before heading to Creighton on Sept. 4 for a nonconference matchup. The Coyotes are back home on Sept. 9 against North Dakota before beginning a stretch of four straight road games, starting at Big Ten foe Iowa on Sept. 11.

The Coyotes play a neutral-site game against Boise State on Sept. 16 in Omaha, Neb., and follow with games at Wyoming (Sept. 23) and Northern Colorado (Sept. 25).

South Dakota's Summit League debut takes place on Sept. 30 at home against Western Illinois. The Coyotes will follow with a game against Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis on Oct. 2.

The Coyotes then hit the road for three straight Summit League road contests: at Oakland (Oct. 7), Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne (Oct. 9) and Missouri-Kansas City (Oct. 15) before returning home for a nonconference tilt against Northern Iowa.

The UNI game is part of a final three-game homestand for the Coyotes, as they entertain rivals South Dakota State and North Dakota State on Oct. 21 and Oct. 23, respectively. South Dakota concludes the season with a Summit League road trip, with games at Southern Utah (Oct. 27) and Oral Roberts (Oct. 29).

Schedule notes: --It will be South Dakota's first regular-season meeting against in-state rival South Dakota State since 2003. The Coyotes lead the all-time series 4-0. --In addition to SDSU, South Dakota has faced several Summit League opponents previously (series record in parentheses): Western Illinois (South Dakota leads series 1-0-1), UMKC (1-0-1), IUPUI (0-2), North Dakota State (1-5). The Coyotes will meet Oakland, IPFW, Oral Roberts and Southern Utah for the first time in 2011. --The Coyotes have never faced the following nonconference opponents (in the regular season) on their 2011 schedule: Iowa, Boise State and Wisconsin-Green Bay.
