AMES, Iowa – Ciara Capezio tallied 19 kills and Mackenzie Bigbee added 13 kills to lead No. 25 Iowa State to a 25-14, 25-22, 25-22 sweep of South Dakota volleyball in a non-conference match on Tuesday night.
The Cyclones (15-6, 8-2 in Big 12) outkilled the Coyotes (18-9, 9-2 in Summit League) 54-29 in the match. Iowa State had eight or more kills than USD in every set, holding a 16-7 advantage in the first, a 20-12 advantage in the second and an 18-10 advantage in the third.
Three Cyclones recorded double-digit digs with Janelle Hudson recording 17, Kristen Hahn tallying 15 and Caitlin Nolan adding 10.
South Dakota was led by Kendall Kritenbrink's nine kills, Tori Kroll's 19 assists and Audrey Reeg's 12 digs. Kritenbrink is now three kills short of tying Kristen Miller (2002-05) for fifth on USD's all-time career kills list at 1,324. Kelsey Biltoft had six block assists to help USD to a 10-4 block advantage in the match.
USD will get back into Summit League play on Saturday when they travel to Denver for a 7 p.m. match.
