VERMILLION, S.D. ÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…â€Å" South Dakota linebacker Tyler Starr was named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS Linebacker Award Watch List on Monday.

Starr, a senior from Little Rock, Iowa, had 74 tackles, seven tackles for loss and four sacks last season. He recorded 14 sacks and 19 tackles for loss in 2011. He is third on USD's all-time career sacks list with 18.

Recipients of CFPA Awards are based upon scientific rankings to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible at their position and are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.

USD will start its season at home against UC-Davis on Aug. 31.
