WICHITA, Kan. - Tai Manu-Olevao and Emily Hartong both recorded 13 kills to lead No. 7 Hawaii past the South Dakota volleyball team 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 on Thursday at the Shocker Volleyball Classic.
The Rainbow Wahine recorded 51 kills and out dug South Dakota (9-4) by a 55-40 margin in the match. Hawaii had a .280 hitting percentage overall and didn't record less than 15 kills in any set.
Kendall Kritenbrink led the Coyotes in kills with 14 and added 11 digs. Kaitlyn Hastings had 16 digs and Tori Kroll had 24 assists to lead USD in those stats.
South Dakota had more blocks than Hawaii in the match (7.5-6) and led in kills during the second set (16-15). Kritenbrink had seven digs and six kills during that set, which saw the teams tie 15 times and swap the lead five times.
South Dakota will play tournament host Wichita State tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
