Box Score Oct. 14, 2014

Final Stats

VERMILLION, S.D. – Mackenzie Bigbee recorded 12 kills while Alexis Conaway added 11 more as Iowa State snapped South Dakota volleyball's 14-match home win streak with a 26-24, 26-24, 25-17 sweep on Tuesday night in The Den. The loss comes two years to the day after USD's last home loss, which was a 3-0 sweep by Western Illinois.

Samara West and Victoria Hurtt both added eight kills to help the Cyclones to a 52-35 advantage in that stat. Caitlin Nolan dug out 26 Coyote attacks and Suzanne Horner tallied a double-double with 44 assists and 10 digs.

South Dakota had six service aces in the match and held a slight advantage in blocks (9-8).

USD used five service aces to gain a 15-10 lead in the first set before the Cyclones fought back to tie the match at 17. The sides tied at every point from then on until Iowa State took the final two points of the set on a Conaway kill and Kritenbrink attack error. Kritenbrink led the Coyotes in the set with five kills while Bigbee matched that number for the Cyclones.

The teams tied 11 times in the second frame with the set ending on three South Dakota errors. Reeg led the Coyotes in the set with five kills and eight digs. Conaway was the Cyclones' leading attacker in the set with five kills while Nolan recorded 10 digs.

South Dakota never led again in the match after Iowa State tied the third set at 3-3. The Cyclones broke the set open on a 7-1 run to grow a 12-10 lead to 19-11. Five different Cyclones recorded a kill during that stretch.

South Dakota had seven kills to five attack errors in the final frame. Reeg had three kills and was the only Coyote to record more than two kills in that set.
