Box Score Oct. 19, 2014

Box Score

DENVER, Colo.--Denver's Francesca Garzelloni curled the ball into the box and bounced it into the net during the final minute of regulation play to give the Pioneers a 1-0 win over South Dakota in Summit League action Sunday at CIBER Field in Denver. The last-minute goal handed South Dakota their first loss in league play this season.

It was a valiant effort for South Dakota (8-5-2, 1-1-2 Summit League), who lost 4-0 to Denver a year ago. The Pioneers (7-7-1, 3-2-0 Summit League) are the defending Summit League tournament champion.

Denver held a 17-6 edge in shots taken. Junior goalkeeper Mackenzie Viktor recorded five saves for the Coyotes, with four in the first half.

On the offensive end of the field, junior Danielle Anderson and sophomore Corey Strang led the Coyotes with one shot-on-goal each. Both shots were saved by Denver goalkeeper Tina Vargas.

South Dakota returns to the USD Soccer Complex in Vermillion for their final home game Friday at 4 p.m. The Coyotes will take on in-state rival South Dakota State.
