VERMILLION, S.D. - Senior outside hitter Kendall Kritenbrink recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 13 kills and 11 digs while Melissa Firtko added seven total blocks as South Dakota volleyball swept Omaha 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 on Sunday in The Den.
Kritenbrink led USD (14-9, 8-2) in kills during all three sets while Firtko's block total tied for the most from a Coyote in a three-set match since the 2000 season. Firtko has tied that mark three times in her career.
Sydney Dimke added nine kills to the USD effort while Brittany Jessen tallied 37 assists and seven kills. Riley Haug and Audrey Reeg both had double-digit digs with 18 and 12 respectively.
The Coyotes out-killed Omaha 45-28, led in digs 64-45 and had a 10-7 edge in blocks. USD also held Omaha to a .058 attack percentage.
Omaha (9-14, 4-6) was led by Kelly Wollak's nine kills and Megan Schmale's eight kills. Mackenzie Horkey tallied 15 digs and Sydney O'Shaughnessy tallied 23 assists.
South Dakota held an 18-6 edge in kills in the first set, but aided Omaha with 12 attack errors. Kritenbrink had five kills while Reeg and Dimke both added four kills in the set. USD scored seven of the set's first eight points and never trailed in the frame.
USD scored 12 of the last 16 points in set two to rally from a six-point deficit (18-12). Five of those points came off Omaha errors. Kritenbrink, Dimke and Jessen all had three kills in the set while Reeg tallied six digs. Schimmer had five kills to lead Omaha while Schmale added four kills.
USD led by as many as nine points and finished with 15 kills on 30 attacks in set three. Kritenbrink had five kills while Haug recorded nine digs. Both teams had their highest attack percentages of the match during that set with USD hitting .333 and Omaha hitting .077.
South Dakota will be back in The Den to host Fort Wayne (10-15, 4-6) on Friday at 7 p.m.
