FORT WAYNE, Ind. — South Dakota junior Audrey Reeg had a match and career-high 26 kills as the Coyotes (14-15, 8-8 SL) came from behind and won three straight sets and the match 3-2 against the Fort Wayne Mastodons (7-25, 4-12 SL) 21-25, 23-25, 25-20, 34-32, 15-12 Saturday night in Arnie Ball Court.

Freshman Hayley Dotseth recorded a double-double with 10 kills and a career-high 23 digs.

Juniors Lindsey Brown and Haley Jorgensen also had double-digit kills with 12 and 11, respectively.

Sophomore setter Brittany Jessen had a career-high 61 assists, 13 digs, and seven kills.

Senior Kelsey Biltoft had a match-high nine total blocks on the defensive end.

Senior Kaitlyn Hastings and freshman Lauren Mattison each had 15 digs.

"The team was definitely disappointed with their performance in sets one and two," said South Dakota head coach Leanne Williamson. "Winning the next three was anything but easy. Fort Wayne put us into some really tough situations and forced us to earn our points, especially in the fourth set.

"Their defense was tremendous and made us find new ways to score. This was a good match for us to have before the conference tournament. We will have to fight for everything there, so it was good to see that tonight as well. Audrey has really stepped into a leadership role. She was very explosive tonight and swung with a lot of confidence."

Fort Wayne started the match by winning the first two sets 25-21 and 25-23. They also led the third set 6-3, but the Coyotes scored the next seven of eight points to take a 10-7 lead. During the run, Brown recorded a kill and an ace, Biltoft had a kill, and Dotseth had an ace. A kill by Jorgensen put the Coyotes up 15-10. Jorgensen also had the final kill of set three as the Coyotes won 25-20.

Reeg started set four with back-to-back kills. The Mastodons answered, but Jessen and Brown had back-to-back kills to increase the Coyotes lead to 8-3, which was the largest lead either team had the entire set. The set was eventually tied at 17 apiece and continued in sequence to 32-32. A Dotseth kill and a Mastodon error won the fourth set for the Coyotes, 34-32, and tied the match at 2-2.

In the fifth and final set, three straight kills from Brown, Jessen, and Reeg had the Coyotes up 3-0. Fort Wayne responded and tied the score at seven. With the set tied at 10, Brown had an ace and Biltoft and Jessen combined for a block to put the Coyotes up 12-10 and Fort Wayne called a timeout. Reeg scored the last two points for the Yotes, via a kill. South Dakota won the fifth set 15-12 and completed the comeback to win the set 3-2.

"Winning on the road is always a battle in the Summit League," said Williamson. "This weekend was a positive for us leading into the tournament."

This was the season finale for South Dakota, they continue their season at the Summit League Tournament this next Friday in Denver, Colo.
