AUSTIN, Texas—South Dakota senior catcher Allie Daly was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division I Softball Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Daly is the third Coyote to be named an Academic All-American and first since 2009. She joins Krystal Kirwan (2008) and Tagney Jones (2009) as past South Dakota honorees.
Daly is one of three catchers named to the 34-player team. She batted .399 with 13 home runs, 59 RBIs and 38 runs scored. Her 59 RBIs led the Summit League and was the second-highest tally in Summit history. Daly also had a 17-game hitting streak towards the end of the season and threw out 19 would-be base stealers, which led the Summit.
Daly graduated in May with a degree in psychology and a 3.68 grade point average. She will begin graduate work in kinesiology and sport science at USD this fall.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution, and be nominated by her SID.
