VERMILLION, S.D.—Iowa State's Lauren Roeling, Lindsay Frank, and Haley Albert scored one goal apiece to lead the Cyclones to a 3-0 victory over South Dakota at USD Soccer Complex on Sunday.
Roeling received a cross from teammate Koree Willer in the center of the box. She placed the ball in the bottom left corner of the net to put Iowa State (2-0-0) up by one in the 33rd minute.
Two corners by Iowa State's Maribell Morales resulted in Cyclone goals in the second half. Lindsay Frank capitalized in the 51st minute when she placed a loose ball into the goal. Haley Albert then connected with a header in the 59th minute to put the ball up and over the defense.
South Dakota (0-2-0) had two free kicks within the attacking third late in the second half, but both went wide of the post.
The Cyclones outshot the Coyotes 12-5 and had a 13-1 edge on corner kicks.
South Dakota returns to the pitch at 4 p.m. Thursday to host Drake at USD Soccer Complex.
