LARAMIE, Wyo.—Butler's Anna Logan and Jessica Admire combined for 28 kills as the Bulldogs swept South Dakota 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 in the season opener at the Rumble in the Rockies Tournament in Laramie, Wyo.
"Butler is a tough team and pushed us from the beginning," said head coach
Leanne Williamson. "We learned a lot about ourselves in this match. We did some nice things tonight, but we didn't do a good job of finishing plays."
Logan led the Bulldogs (1-0) with a match-high 16 kills, while Admore swatted down 12 kills on 13 attempts for an attack percentage of .846. Makayla Ferguson recorded 29 assists and Megan Cotant had 13 digs.
Junior
Audrey Reeg led the Coyotes (0-1) with 12 kills, while seniors
Kelsey Biltoft and
Sydney Dimke added eight apiece.
Sophomore setter
Brittany Jessen recorded a match-high 32 assists.
"We will use this match to clean up our game," said Williamson. "We'll come back out tomorrow and battle again."
South Dakota finishes off the tournament with two matches Saturday. The Coyotes take on Wyoming at 12:30 p.m. and Ohio State at 6 p.m.
