VERMILLION, S.D.—Ahead of Sunday's match with Fort Wayne, a pair of Coyote soccer players will be recognized for their accomplishments and dedication to the South Dakota women's soccer program over the past four seasons.
Brooke Watson and
Corey Strang are the lone seniors on this year's squad. The pair led the Coyotes to the program's first Summit League Tournament a year ago and defeated South Dakota State this fall for the first time in the Division I era.
Brooke Watson
A Colorado Springs, Colo., native, Watson is the daughter of Steve and Debbie Watson. Watson has scored a pair of goals and tallied an assist during her time as a Coyote. One of her goals came against defending league champion North Dakota State earlier this season as the Coyotes pulled off a 4-0 upset of the Bison. After earning her bachelor of health science degree, Watson plans to attend dental school.
Corey Strang
A native of Temecula, Calif., Strang is the daughter of Patrick and Wendy Strang. Strang is a two-time all-Summit pick and earned all-tournament honors in 2015. Strang has scored 19 goals with 12 assists in her Coyote career, coming in at sixth in program history with 50 points. She's tied for fourth in career asssits and seventh in goals. She's also tallied five game-winners in four seasons. Strang was crucial in the Coyotes' Summit League Tournament run a year ago, ranking third in the Summit with 11 goals. She tallied a pair of goals and an assist in the Coyotes 4-3 double-overtime loss to North Dakota State in the tournament semifinal. Strang will graduate with a bachelor's degree in history education.
