CAIRNS, Australia--Sunday's sights in Australia took the Coyote women's basketball team to one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The opportunity to go deep sea diving in the Great Barrier Reef was highly anticipated by the players.

Today's blog was written by redshirt-sophomore guard Kaityln Severyn.

Hello from Cairns!

Today was a day that we as a team all anxiously awaited, from the moment we were told that we would be visiting the Great Barrier Reef on our trip to Australia. Rest assured, it did not disappoint.

Our morning started out a little earlier than the previous morning, as we were determined to not waste a minute of daylight. We quickly grabbed breakfast at our resort and were off to set sail on our tour boat.

On the boat ride out to the Great Barrier Reef, we were able to see the beautiful terrain of Cairns. Little did we know that was nothing in comparison to the sights we were about to see under the water while scuba diving and snorkeling. After conquering a few fears, many of us took a leap of faith into the ocean. And I must say, it was so worth it! The reef was absolutely breathtaking. The vibrant colors of the reefs and all the aquatic animals was a view similar to that of "Finding Nemo." It was the opportunity of a lifetime and we are very fortunate to have been able to do it together as a team.

Our boat ride back to the harbor was a little less appealing. As the wind had picked up throughout the day, it made for rough waters, which ended with a few nauseous passengers. We weathered the storm and made it back to land to enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants. Of course we finished the day with another stop at our favorite ice cream parlor.

Again, thank you to all those who made this trip possible. Words cannot express how thankful we are for this opportunity. As always, it was a great day to be a Coyote!
