RIVERSIDE, Calif.—South Dakota sophomore striker
Sammie Villwock put the Coyotes on the scoreboard as South Dakota and UC Riverside came to a 1-1 draw on Friday night at UCR Soccer Stadium.
South Dakota (1-1-1) has now tallied a win, a loss and a draw in its first three matches. In its second meeting with the Coyotes, UC Riverside (0-1-2) continues to lead the series with a win last season.
Freshman forward
Taryn LaBree set up the scoring play with a drive down the right flank, crossing the ball back into the box. Villwock met the cross eight yards out from the goal line, finishing it for her first goal of the season in the 20th minute. Villwock was the Coyotes' second leading scorer in 2015 and tallied her fifth career goal tonight.
UC Riverside midfielder Nerisse Bugho evened the score in the 78th minute with her first career goal for the Highlanders. Centered on the field, Bugho sent a shot in past USD junior goalkeeper

Sophomore
Parker Rytz made the start between the posts for the Coyotes, recording two saves in the first 45 minutes. Hardin tallied three saves in the second half.
At the end of regulation, the Coyotes held a 7-6 edge in shots-on-goal despite the Highlanders' 18-11 lead on the shot chart. The two teams held even in corner kicks at 3-3. With the two overtime periods, UC Riverside held a 22-12 shot advantage over South Dakota.
The Coyotes resume action at Northridge, Calif., against CSUN at 1 p.m. CT Sunday.
