NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN sophomore Lindsay Kutscher scored a pair of goals within a two minute span to lead the Matadors past the Coyotes 4-0 on Sunday at Matador Soccer Field.
CSUN (2-1-1) outshot South Dakota (1-2-1) 32-6 in the match. The Coyotes put four of their six shots on-target, while the Matadors had a 46.8 percent (15-of-32) shot-on-goal percentage. South Dakota sophomore goalkeeper
Parker Rytz tallied seven saves in the first half, keeping the Matadors off the board. Junior goalkeeper
Sydney Hardin had four saves and four goals allowed in the second half.
Kutscher tallied her first goal in the 53rd minute. Teammate Cynthia Sanchez drew Hardin out of the net with a drive into the box, before flicking a pass back to Kutscher for an easy finish to the net. Kutscher followed a minute later with a header off a cross from Kourtney Kutscher.
A pair of give-and-goes between CSUN's Camille Watson, Marissa Favela and Sanchez set up Sanchez on the right side of the box. Sanchez finished from five yards out in the 62nd minute.
Matador Sylvia Trinh sent the ball out to Tiffany Guerra on the right flank in the 82nd minute. Guerra crossed the ball back in front of the net, where Briana Geffre headed it into the left side of the goal.
South Dakota continues its six-game road stretch next Friday at Drake in Des Moines, Iowa, at 6 p.m.
