DES MOINES, Iowa—Drake midfielder Alyssa Brand scored the game-winning goal in the Bulldogs' 1-0 victory over South Dakota Friday at Cownie Stadium.
 
Brand scored in the 16th minute off a rebound. Drake striker Hannah Wilder's shot was blocked, with Brand collecting the rebound and finishing it out of reach.
 
Drake edged South Dakota in shots 13-12, with each team posting seven shots-on-goal. DU took 11 shots to USD's two in the first half, but the Coyotes responded with 10 to the Bulldogs' two in the second. Coyote freshman striker Taryn LaBree led the Coyotes with a pair of shots-on-goal.
 
Drake goalkeeper Haley Morris collected seven saves. South Dakota sophomore goalkeeper Parker Rytz posted her first game in goal for the full 90 minutes this season.
 
South Dakota travels to Northern Iowa Sunday at 1 p.m.
