VERMILLION, S.D. — In a defensive battle, the South Dakota soccer team fell 1-0 in overtime to Oral Roberts Sunday at First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex.

Both teams combined for 12 shots throughout the game, with a combined six on goal with neither team able to break through in regulation.

Oral Roberts (5-8-1, 2-1-0 Summit) scored the game winning shot in the 92
nd minute with a goal off the foot of Anna Gornell. Caitlyn Hanslovan took the ball to the right side of the field where she sent a pass to the top of the box where Gornell sent the shot to the upper right for the game-winning goal.

The Coyotes received two shots from
Taryn LaBree and a shot each from
Kellee Willer and
Alexis Mitchell throughout the contest. Willer's attempt came in the early minutes when she broke free in the middle of the field and was unable to slide a 12-yard shot under Ryliegh Bohnenstiehl, the ORU goalkeeper.

Labree's attempts came in the first half, when she had an eerily similar situation to her golden-goal victory against Creighton, receiving a pass on the right side of the box and sending a long shot on the ground to the left side of the goal, however just missing. Her other shot attempt went high of the goal from the center of the field.

South Dakota's (2-11-0, 0-3-0)
Sydney Hardin made her second-straight start in goal, making three saves in the nearly 92 minutes of action. Bohnenstiehl stopped both shots that were on frame from the Coyotes.

South Dakota returns to action on Friday at Fort Wayne with a 6 p.m. kickoff. The home finale is set for Friday, October 20, which serves as Senior Day for the Coyotes.
