Coyotes' final nonconference road game slated for tonight

South Dakota wraps up a two-game road swing in Texas with Incarnate Word at 6 p.m. Monday inside McDermott Center in San Antonio. Tonight will be the final nonconference road game of the season as the Coyotes return to friendly confines of the Sanford Coyote Sports Center for a four-game home stretch ahead of the holiday break.

The Coyote Report
Tune in to the Coyote Report with Joe Van Goor tonight at 5 p.m. on KVHT 106.3 ahead of the women's basketball game at Incarnate Word. The Coyote Report, which airs live from the Old Lumber Company, will feature USD men's basketball assistant coach Austin Hansen and a pre-recorded interview with USD head football coach Bob Nielson in a 30-minute special segment. John Thayer's pre-game show will tip-off at 5:30 p.m.

The Game
South Dakota looks to come away with its second road win of the season at Incarnate Word. The Coyotes (4-4) have had a challenging start to the season with three road games and a three-game tournament in Cancun. Incarnate Word (1-6) is the second-straight Southland Conference foe the Coyotes will face in this two-game road swing.

The Coyotes
South Dakota has eight players averaging between six and 10 points per game this season with six different players pacing the team in eight games this season. Freshman guard Monica Arens has scored 10 points for three-straight games against a variety of opponents ranging from the SEC's Tennessee, the NAIA's Bellevue to fellow mid-major power Stephen F. Austin.

The Cardinals
Incarnate Word became fully eligible for postseason competition ahead of this season after completing the transition to NCAA Division I. The Cardinals began the transition up right as the Coyotes became fully eligible for Division I. UIW head coach Christy Smith is in her second season with the program and her first stint as a head coach. She has eight years of experience as a Division I assistant coach with stops at Arkansas, Purdue and Valparaiso. Incarnate Word is paced this season by Imani Robinson's 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Teammate Gabbie Bowie adds 9.3 points and 3.7 rebounds a game.

The Series
This marks the first meeting between the two programs in history.

One Last Thing
South Dakota has outscored opponents 309-264 in the second half this season. The Coyotes have outpaced opponents in the final two quarters in seven of eight games this season.
