VB: HI 3, USD 0

HONOLULU—Hawai'i hit .446 and committed one error in getting past South Dakota Friday before a crowd of more than 6,000 inside the Stan Sheriff Center Friday. Scores went 25-19, 25-15, 25-13. The Coyotes (1-4) play their final match in Honolulu at 5 p.m. (CT) Saturday against Western Carolina before returning to Vermillion.

"We showed in set one that we could play with a very good Hawai'i team," USD Head Coach Leanne Williamson said. "We left a few points on the floor which allowed them to close out the match at the end."

Hawai'i (2-3) had 38 kills with one error on 83 attempts for the match. Emily Maglio led the way with 11 kills on 14 attempts and hit .786. She also had four of Hawaii's 16 block assists. Kendra Koelsch had five kills on eight attempts and hit .625. McKenna Granato had nine kills on 23 attacks to hit .391. Neither player committed an error.

Hayley Dotseth had 11 kills to lead the Coyotes, which hit .115 (37-25-104). Rachel Schmidt and Elizabeth Loschen had seven kills apiece. Libero Anne Rasmussen notched a team-high 12 digs. Brittany Jessen had 28 assists, six digs and one of four Coyote aces. Jessen continues to lead the Summit with 10.2 assists per set thru five matches.

"I thought Britt set a good game even though she was on the run a lot," Williamson said. "We will learn from this match and use it as drive to get better tomorrow."
