MACOMB, Ill. – Junior
Kellee Willer scored the game-winning goal in the 81
st minute as the South Dakota soccer team prevailed 2-1 over Western Illinois Sunday at NW Playing Field.

South Dakota totaled a season-high 24 shots, placing 12 on goal, to improve to 7-4-2 overall and 2-1 in the Summit League. Western Illinois, limited to six total shots, falls to 2-10-1, 0-4.

Willer received a pass from freshman
Tiannah Moore at the corner of the box where she turned and bent the ball low to the far post, proving to be the game-winner with just over nine minutes to play.

The game was a come-from-behind win for the Coyotes as the Leathernecks grabbed an early 1-0 lead when Madeline Edwards scored in the 22
nd minute. That lead would hold until the 62
nd minute when
Taryn LaBree notched her team-high fifth goal of the season.

Moore broke free from the Leatherneck defense and carried the ball towards the net before passing to LaBree for the game-tying goal. LaBree, a junior, now has a team-best 13 points on the season.

As time was winding down in the contest, Willer was set up for the heroics scoring the third game-winning goal of her career.

LaBree led the Coyotes with five shots, placing three on frame as Willer and Moore each totaled four shots.
Teresa Fontenot,
Dani Brown and
Maddison Sullivan each tallied two shots with five other Coyotes recording one shot.

Parker Rytz, in goal for all seven Coyote victories this year, had two saves on the afternoon. Birgitta Sol Eggertsdottir tallied 10 saves for the Leathernecks.

The Coyotes continue their three-game road trip with a South Dakota Showdown Series contest at South Dakota State on Thursday. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
