Sarah Schank and sophomore
Isaac Morris completed their diving season Tuesday at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships hosted by Minnesota in the Jean K. Aquatic Center. The duo represented South Dakota at one of five diving meets that serve as a qualifier to the NCAA Championships.
On Monday, Schank finished 43
rd (out of 47) on the one-meter dive with a score of 200.75. She beat out divers from South Dakota State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa and Kansas. Morris finished 30
th (out of 34) on the three-meter dive with a score of 257.25. Morris placed higher than divers from the University of Missouri-Columbia and South Dakota State.
During Tuesday's competition, Schank finished 44
th on the three-meter dive with a final score of 200.55. Morris finished 26
th (out of 34) on the one-meter dive with a score of 273.60. He beat out divers from South Dakota State, Louisiana State, Wisconsin-Madison, Iowa, Missouri-Columbia and Incarnate Word.
This is the second-straight year at the event for Morris and the first time for Schank. Morris claimed the champion title in the one- and three-meter dive of the Summit League Championships and was awarded men's Diving Championship MVP. Schank finished second in the three-meter and eighth in the one-meter dive at the championships held Feb. 14-17.
