SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota State catcher Brittney Morse was 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and drove in five runs in leading the Jackrabbits to a 7-0 win against South Dakota in the rubber match of a three-game series Friday at Bowden Field.
The run support was plenty for SDSU ace Madison Hope (14-4), who tossed a three-hit shutout to earn her second win of the series. Hope walked four and struck out two. She got out of a first and third, one-out jam in the third, and left the bases loaded in the fifth.
Morse broke a scoreless game in the bottom of the third with her fifth home run of the season. It was the first runs for SDSU in 11 innings against the Coyotes dating back to the end of game one. The Jacks took advantage of two errors in a four-run fifth. Morse had a two-run single with two outs in the inning that extended the lead to 6-0.
Coyote catcher
Jessica Rogers had one of three singles off Hope and finished 1-for-2 with a walk. She was 4-for-5 with three walks in the series. A pair of two-run home runs from
Lauren Eamiguel on Thursday were the only runs tallied against Hope in her 14 innings.
South Dakota (14-27, 4-5 Summit) next hosts Creighton in a 3 p.m. contest Wednesday at Nygaard Field.
