Coyotes to face Baylor and Colorado State in 2018-19 season

MBB Schedule

VERMILLION, S.D. – The South Dakota men's basketball team can add dates at Baylor and Colorado State to the 2018-19 basketball season head coach Todd Lee recently announced.

The Coyotes are set to play Baylor on Nov. 27 in Waco, Texas. The contest at Colorado State is set for Dec. 16 in Fort Collins, Colorado.

"It is great for our program to play in these environments and against high-level competition," Lee said. "We always want to challenge ourselves and both of these teams will provide that challenge."

The contest with Baylor is the second Big 12 team on the Coyotes schedule, having already announced a game at Kansas on Dec. 18. South Dakota has met Baylor on the hardwood just once before, a neutral-site contest on Dec. 19, 1969.

Baylor went 19-15 last season and advanced to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament. The tournament was the seventh-straight year the Bears advanced to the postseason with five trips to the NCAA Tournament and two to the NIT.

The Coyotes will face Colorado State for the first time in program history and the second-straight season meeting a foe from the Mountain West Conference. The Rams tallied an 11-21 record last season and went 4-14 inside the Mountain West.

The announcement brings the 2018-19 nonconference schedule to six games with the Coyotes heading to the Bahamas for the Bimini Jam with contests against Air Force, High Point and UMBC. The Bimini Jam is slated to take place from Nov. 14-20.
