VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota softball head coach
Robert Wagner is pleased to announce the addition of Nicole Steinbach to his staff. Steinbach will work with the Coyote pitchers.
"I am incredibly excited to have Nicole joining our staff as well as the USD and Vermillion community," said Wagner. "She brings a competitive and passionate attitude to our program. Additionally, the knowledge and experience that she brings with her from her time as a player and coach, is going to be of great value to our staff and program."
Steinbach comes to USD from Bethel College (Ind.) where she served as an assistant coach. She managed the Pilots' lifting and conditioning in addition to pitching and hitting workouts. Other coaching experience includes working with the NWI White Sox Fastpitch Under-16 team.
"The person we were looking for needed to have the ability to create a positive relationship with our pitchers and be able to collaborate with the rest of the staff in order to develop our players as complete student-athletes," said Wagner. "It needed to be someone who understands work ethic, motivation, teamwork and the discipline it takes to achieve at this level. Additionally, Nicole understands the importance of garnering details in person and from film and then using those details and make our players better. We are excited to welcome Nicole into the pack!"
Steinbach, a 2016 graduate of Ball State University, was a two-time NFCA All-Region and three-time all-MAC second team pitcher. She compiled 111 starts with 80 completed games for the Cardinals over four years. Steinbach was the 2013 MAC Freshman of the Year with 21 starts and an ERA of 2.28. She compiled 514 strikeouts with a career ERA of 3.24. She pitched 15 shutouts over her career.
A native of Merrillville, Indiana, Steinbach received her bachelor's degree in sport administration from BSU. She is currently working towards her MBA from Bethel College.
