WATERLOO, Iowa – South Dakota senior goalkeeper
Parker Rytz tallied four saves as the South Dakota women's soccer team tied Northern Iowa 0-0 Sunday afternoon at Cedar Valley Soccer Complex in Waterloo, Iowa.

Rytz faced 11 total shots and made stops on all four within the frame for the shutout. South Dakota (0-1-1) drew a Northern Iowa (0-0-1) team that lost just once on its home pitch last season.

The Coyotes tallied 13 shots with
Amanda Carpio,
Alexis Mitchell and
Kellee Willer each attempting two shots.

Early in the match, Willer fired a shot as she was nearing the goal line that was pushed above the net by the UNI goalkeeper. Jami Reichenberger extended just enough fingertips on the ball to keep it from going into the net in the fourth minute.

South Dakota had another strong opportunity to score in the 30
th minute as Carpio turned on a shot from 25 yards out, but saw the ball carry high of the net.

Carpio saw another opportunity in the 80
th minute when she received a pass from
Taryn LaBree just inside the 18-yard box. A Panther defender blocked Carpio's shot at the last moment, keeping the game scoreless.

After entering the second overtime, Mitchell attempted the final Coyote opportunity of the game but Reichenberger stopped the ball as one of seven saves on the day.

Rytz tallied the second shutout of her career, with the first coming in a 4-0 win over North Dakota State on Oct. 7, 2016.

South Dakota out-shot Northern Iowa 13-11 and held the advantage in shots on goal, 7-4. The two squads were deadlocked with nine corner kicks each.

The Coyotes travel to Cheney, Washington, for a 6 p.m. (CDT) kickoff at Eastern Washington on Friday.
