Hayley Dotseth and
Taylor Wilson helped lead South Dakota past North Dakota State in a five-set thriller to begin Summit League volleyball play Friday evening at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
Dotseth slammed home her career-best tying 23
rd kill to end the match as the Coyotes rallied from a 2-1 set deficit to defeat the Bison 25-12, 23-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-9 in front of 1,369 fans.
Dotseth, a senior from Johnston, Iowa, equaled her career-high from last fall when she had 23 in a four-set match against Oral Roberts.
Wilson, a senior from Corydon, Ind., reached double figures in kills for the fifth time this season with a career-high 19 as South Dakota won its Summit League opener for the third straight season.
Madison Jurgens, a redshirt freshman, contributed 53 assists, 13 digs and five service aces as the Coyotes moved to 1-1 in five-set matches this season.
Anne Rasmussen, a junior, led five Coyotes in double figures in digs with 34 in the match while
Lauren Sauer had 16, Dotseth 13 and
Mehana Fonseca chipped in 10.
