CONWAY, Ark. – Central Arkansas used a strong offensive attack to snap South Dakota's six-match winning streak Friday, 25-17, 25-22, 25-22 in a volleyball match played at the Farris Center as part of the Central Arkansas Invitational.
Central Arkansas, moving to 7-2, had 47 kills and just 10 attack errors for a .346 hitting percentage in the match with the Coyotes, who were limited offensively to just 38 kills and a .178 hitting percentage. It was only the second time this season that South Dakota was held under a .200 hitting percentage in a match.
"Today was not a great day for us," Coach
Leanne Williamson said. "We had a hard time getting into a rhythm both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
"We have had a lot of success up to this point in the season and no one is going to take us lightly going forward."
Hayley Dotseth had 11 kills to lead the Coyotes attack, but the senior was the lone player to reach double digits in kills in the match for a South Dakota team that fell to 6-2.
Madison Jurgens provided 31 assists while defensively
Anne Rasmussen had 15 digs and Dotseth 10.
South Dakota closes out action at the UCA Invitational with Saturday's 11 a.m. match against Little Rock.
"We will absolutely learn from this, and it will have to be fast," said Williamson. "Our focus shifts to Little Rock, which will be another battle. Each day is an opportunity to compete and we need to embrace the challenges that come with that."
